I Love My Church

I Love My Church Notes

I Love My Church

Matthew 16:18.
“And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”

Acts 2:42-47

People who matter to God the most:

1. The un-churched (spiritually lost)

John 3:16-17.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

2. The hurting and wounded

Luke 10: 25-37 (Story of the Good Samaritan)

3. The Children

Matthew 19:13-14
“Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

4. Those who cannot help themselves

Matthew 25: 35-40

The poor, the stranger, the sick and elderly, and the condemned

1. Caring for people should always precede confronting people.

Matthew 5:13.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?

Salt adds something rather than take away something!

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Light doesn’t attack darkness; it replaces it!

2. Do for others what they can’t do for themselves.

Matthew 9:36
But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”

3. Be the first to help.

Give with no strings attached!

4. Common Ground is the best “platform” to preach from.

1 Corinthians 9:22-23 (Ph)
(Paul) “I have been all things to all sorts of people that by every possible means I might win some to God. I do all of this for the sake of the Good News.”

“…Yes, whatever a person is like, I try to find common ground with him so he will let me tell him about Christ and let Christ save him.” (Living Bible)
